What type of course suites me?
In Malaysia, there are vast array of vocational and academic qualifications in tertiary education (college and university stages). The levels of education at tertiary stage can be broken down into:

Foundation degree courses:
These programmes form the first part of a vocational or academic degree. They can be a good route for people who do not meet the usual entry requirements to get on to a degree course. Foundation programmes are done at the university or at the colleges that are associated with the university.

Higher certificate or diploma courses:
These are higher education courses that cover a range of vocational and academic subjects. They can lead on to a degree course. Most of these programmes are undertaken at separate colleges, though they can be associated with the university. Like foundation degrees, they are best suited to those who do not meet the usual entry requirements for a degree course.

Degree course:
Degrees are available in a wide range of academic and vocational subjects and can form the basis or part of professional qualifications. They can be studied over a period of 3 or 4 years. You can pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Science (BSc), or teaching (BEd), or medicine (BMed), or Bachelor of law (LLB). Most of these degree programmes are undertaken at universities, and in some cases at colleges. In Malaysia, courses such as medicine and pharmacy are difficult to get into.

Postgraduate studies:
Postgraduate studies can be taken in the form of Masters levels, from 1 to 2 years full time, and at Doctorate level of 3 years minimum after achieving the Masters degree. Postgraduate studies are done as taught courses or research courses at the universities in Malaysia.
